    It’s burger time! Championship Boerewors, crispy bacon and a perfectly fried egg – what more could you want? Try your hand at this easy recipe and you’ll soon be enjoying the burger of champions! Preparation: 10 min. Cooking: 15 min. Serves 4

  • Ingredients:

    8 slices of bacon
    600 g Championship Boerewors; removed from casing
    4 round sesame rolls

    4 iceberg lettuce leaves
    1 tomato; thinly sliced

    Tomato sauce
    4 eggs
    Salt and pepper

  • Method:

    1. Heat a non-stick pan and fry bacon until crisp. Set aside.
    2. Shape boerewors into 4 portions, and shape into patties. Fry in bacon fat for 2–3 min. on each side. Remove and set aside.
    3. Slice rolls in half and spread with margarine before toasting, cut side down, in the same pan or under the grill, until golden.
    4. Top the toasted bases with a spoonful of mayonnaise, then lettuce, then sliced tomato. Add your grilled burger patty and a spoonful of tomato sauce.
    5. Fry eggs in the same pan, adding a little sunflower oil if necessary, and place on top of the burger patties with the crispy bacon. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
